Through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Worker (TUPAD) program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), 3,053 beneficiaries from various municipalities of Batangas received their salaries last August 9 at Bauan Colleges Inc., Bauan, Batangas.
Beneficiaries came from the municipalities of Bauan, Mabini, Lobo, San Pascual, and San Luis.
This is to ensure that the program does not benefit a fraction of the province but also reaches every municipality, especially far-flung areas.
One of them, 48-year-old Marivic Boongaling from Lobo, Batangas, shared how the program will help her in providing for her family.
As a working mother of four children, ‘Nay Marivic’s day is not always an easy feat as she needs to work and take care of her family.
According to her, the TUPAD program could help her provide for their needs, especially for her two children who are still attending school.
“Panggastos po sana sa pang-araw-araw at sa pag-aaral ng aking anak na nasa elementary at college po,” ‘Nay Marvic said.
Therefore, despite the hours of travel from their home, ‘Nay Marivic woke up early and patiently waited in line to receive her much-needed TUPAD salary.

According to Ms. Miah Ericka Salavodar, Labor and Employment Officer III (ALI) and the person in charge of the project, the beneficiaries received their salaries through Palawan transaction codes.
The caravan was implemented to ease the payout process for beneficiaries, especially those who are far from branches of the money remittance center.

DOLE Batangas, together with its partnering agencies, still works to reach more marginalized Filipinos, provide programs such as TUPAD, and help them achieve a more sustainable and comfortable life.
TUPAD is an emergency employment program of DOLE that aims to assist displaced workers, underemployed individuals, and seasonal workers for a minimum of 10 days.
