As the country pays tribute to Filipino workers, 100 beneficiaries and five selected low-wage earners from Batangas received their salaries and livelihood assistance through the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) and the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Worker (TUPAD) program.
The payout and release of livelihood assistance was held at SM City, Sto. Tomas, Batangas during the 123rd Labor Day celebration.
Neneng Angeles, a resident of Brgy. Poblacion 3, Sto. Tomas Batangas and one of the 100 TUPAD beneficiaries, shared that their family mostly depended on her income from sewing, however, she recently stopped due to personal reasons.
“Mananahi po talaga ako matagal na ay kaso napatigil ngayon lang kaya wala po kaming pinagkakakitaan pa na maayos,” she said.

With the TUPAD program, ‘Nay Angeles expressed her joy that the program could help her provide for her children's needs.
“Ngayon po ay may pinapaaral pa akong 2nd year college. Magagamit ko po itong sinahod sa kailangan nya sa school. Medyo magastos din po kasi,” ‘Nay Neneng stressed.

According to Labor and Employment Officer III and TUPAD Focal, Ms. Salvacion Kalalo, the beneficiaries received their salaries through Palawan transaction codes.
Moreover, beneficiaries can outright claim their salary through the onsite team of the partnered money remittance center.
DOLE continues to enforce its programs for the benefit of workers in need of assistance, amidst displacement or underemployment, through the TUPAD.
Aside from the TUPAD payout, selected beneficiaries also received livelihood assistance through DILP.

“The recipients of the livelihood assistance were displaced workers, low-wage earners, and self-employed workers,” Ms. Kalalo explained.
Moreover, the beneficiaries received a printing package that includes a printer, bond papers, a laminating machine, and laminating films, which they can use to start or build their livelihood endeavors.
Through the DILP and TUPAD, DOLE hopes to further support marginalized and vulnerable workers towards sustainable livelihood and employment opportunities.
