DOLE and UB team up for SPES video orientation series

Representatives from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and University of Batangas (UB) convened last February 10 to plan for a video orientation series in reference to the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES).

Orientation of SPES beneficiaries is a necessity because it shows students and out-of-school youth the thrust of the program; the documentary requirements; their roles and responsibilities, and; other things expected of them.

“Considering the new normal where physical gatherings are limited, online na talaga ang platform. With this video orientation series, beneficiaries shall no longer wait for the availability of a speaker from DOLE. They can now be briefed anytime and anywhere,” said Dir. Predelma M. Tan of DOLE-Batangas.

Initial Plan

On the said meeting, Dr. Karl Joseph D. Sanmocte, Labor and Employment Officer III, raised his ideas about the video orientation series.

“Ngayon, maikli na ang attention span ng mga beneficiaries. So to make the content interesting and impactful, maganda na short videos ang ilabas natin. Mga 3 to 5 minutes lang kada video,” he said.

Ms. Anna Louisa L. Cauntay, UB Job Placement Office Manager, agreed to Dr. Sanmocte.

“Tama yun. Also, we can make animated videos just like what we do here in UB. In that way, ibang flavor yung matitikman ng mga bata. Doon sa animated videos, pwede doon ang general corollaries of SPES. Pwede ring content ang mga frequently asked questions,” she mentioned.

Dr. Redentor S. Rodriguez, UB CAPBE Director, added that a video featuring currently employed and successful SPES beneficiaries would also inspire students and out-of-school youth. He said that it will all the more highlight that the program does not only give money to the pocket but also enriches the spirit because beneficiaries learn to appreciate the value of work.

Latest Updates

During the Regional Meeting of Employment Focal Persons last February 19, Dr. Sanmocte shared the agreements from the team-up with UB.

Mr. Jorge Manuel C. Laude; Ms. Iris P. Perez; Ms. Anne Marie Faye C. Gloria; Ms. Daisy Ramos; Ms. Abigail Gilpo, and; Ms. Genecille Aguirre, Employment Focal Persons, found the plan exciting and beneficial for the whole region. They even offered help in the development of the script.

It was agreed that Mr. Laude shall draft a proposal to fund the idea so that preparations can start as early as March. The target launching of the said videos is April 2021.
