YAKAP, which aims to make healthcare services particularly preventive care more accessible to all Filipino citizens, is gearing up for wider implementation. This enhanced PhilHealth primary care service provides free consultations, essential medicines, as well as laboratory and cancer screening tests to promote early disease detection and prevention.

During the orientation, Michael Alvin Awang, Social Insurance Assistant I and representative from the Local Health Insurance Office (LHIO)-Lemery, shared his expertise by discussing the program’s scope, requirements and registration processes. He also enumerated the updated accredited facilities and clinics where employees of BDI may avail themselves.

A brief question-and-answer session followed the orientation, addressing attendees’ queries on the similarities and differences between using their health card and YAKAP program benefits. Some employees also inquired about the scope of YAKAP coverage for family members who wish to avail the program and its benefits.
One of the attendees, Elenita Ogorit, a Quality Assurance Head, shared her takeaways from the session. “Nakapakahalaga pala na makakapag-register sa YAKAP program,” she said. She added that this type of government program is important for Filipino households, which often prioritize spending on medicine and maintenance treatments over food, particularly in times of emergency.

Earlier this month, DOLE Batangas YAKAP Focal Arlene A. Garcia coordinated with LHIO Lemery headed by Chief Social Insurance Officer Juan Montaña, Jr., regarding DOLE’s initiative to strengthen the information dissemination of the YAKAP program among private sectors and industries in Batangas.

Through inter-agency collaborations like YAKAP, employees and individuals from various sectors will continue to be informed, educated, and empowered to stay “malayo sa sakit.” #DOLEBatangas
