DOLE BATANGAS CAPACITATES INDUSTRIAL PARK LOCATORS IN STO. TOMAS CITY ON LABOR LAWS


The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) IV-A Batangas Provincial Office actively engaged human resource and safety officers from across the First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) during the Quarterly Assembly of the Association of FPIP Locators Inc. (AFLI) at the FPIP Oasis Gym, Sto. Tomas, Batangas, on May 23.

A total of 192 participants representing 101 companies attended the learning session, eager to deepen their knowledge of current labor standards, employee welfare programs, and flexible work arrangements.  


Senior Labor and Employment Officer, Ms. Ann Jelyn Natividad, opened the orientation with a detailed overview of General Labor Standards. She shed light on salient matters, particularly working hours, wages, and legally mandated benefits, along with a strong call for employers to promote decent work practices beyond simple compliance.

Meanwhile, Labor and Employment Officer III, Ms. Bea Mari Ingco, discussed the Family Welfare Program (FWP) and the core concepts of International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention No. 190 were discussed during the session, emphasizing the workplace’s vital role in supporting employees’ well-being.  


“Ang Family Welfare Program ay hindi lang dagdag gawain o compliance. Isa po itong paalala na ang mga manggagawa, empleyado, o kayo ay tao na may pamilya, may pinagdadaanan, at karapat-dapat bigyan ng suporta at kahalagahan,” Ms. Ingco remarked.

To culminate the learning session, Senior Labor and Employment Officer, Ms. Mirasol Celemin, urged participants to assess whether their implementation of the Compressed Work Week genuinely supports both employee well-being and organizational objectives, pushing for a shift from basic compliance to meaningful application.

The partnership with FPIP locators underscored the office’s commitment to creating workplaces that value employees as essential contributors to business success.

Through these learning sessions, DOLE Batangas continues the mission of upholding companies’ compliance with the mandate of promoting full, decent, and productive employment for all.
