As part of its continuous action in contributing to environmental conservation and protection, the Department of Labor and Employment IV-A - Batangas Provincial Office employees joined the tree planting activity in Bagong Pook, Lipa City, Batangas on October 18.

Participants planted more than 200 seedlings of fruitbearing trees including Guyabano, Duhat, and Langka in the portion of a forest land along the barangay road.

Ms. Ann Jelyn Natividad, Senior Labor and Employment Officer of DOLE BPO shared her experience during the activity and hopes to partake in more community service initiatives aside from rendering service related to labor and employment.

“Its a yearly tradition for DOLE Batangas to participate in Nestle's Lipa Factory Tree planting activity. It’s our way to show our support not just in labor related activities but also to our environment which we believe is equally important,” she shared.

For the barangay captain of Bagong Pook, they consider the initiative as a significant way to preserve their water quality, and clean air brought about the existence of trees in their area.

“Napakahalaga dahil nga itong aming barangay ay gusto namin ay ano ang natural resources nya ay mapanatili,” Mr. Lope Mario V. Lina uttered.

According to the organizer of the activity, it aims to bring together partners in realizing their hope of planting thousands of trees in the community.

“Salamat at lagi naman kayong nandyan sa pagsuporta dito sa mga initiatives na ito,” Mr. Michael Amante of Nestle Philippines Lipa remarked.

DOLE employees participation to these initiatives serves as a mark of the Department’s holistic approach in providing an avenue to its officers in addressing environmental concerns in simple yet sustainable ways.
