DOLE BATANGAS EMPOWERS STAKEHOLDERS AND INSPECTORS IN FIRST HYBRID TECHNICAL SAFETY ORIENTATION

To streamline the issuance of safety permits and reinforce workplace standards, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Batangas Provincial Office, in collaboration with the Technical Support and Services Division - Labor Relations Labor Standards Unit, successfully conducted its first Hybrid Orientation on DOLE Electrical and Mechanical Permitting Requirements at the 3rd Floor DOLE Batangas Training Center, March 12.
The activity consisted of two strategic sessions, a massive turnout of over 210 participants both onsite and via virtual platforms.

The morning session focused on external partners, including establishment owners, contractors, and safety officers.
With 40 attendees present at the venue and approximately 170 joining via Zoom, the orientation served as a comprehensive guide for navigating the complexities of technical safety compliance.
Resource speakers discussed several topics discussed including the documentary requirements of proper preparation and submission protocols for electrical and mechanical permits.
Further, they also tackled the inspection process consisting of a walkthrough of the expectations during physical technical safety evaluations as well as compliance timelines that focus on understanding deadlines to avoid penalties and operational delays.

By clarifying these standards, DOLE Batangas aims to significantly reduce common filing errors and accelerate processing times, ultimately fostering a culture of safety and compliance across the province’s industries.

In the afternoon, the focus shifted inward to Labor Inspectors and the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the Batangas Provincial Office. This specialized session was designed to synchronize the department's internal evaluation process.
The discussion centered on fostering a uniform understanding of Permit-to-Operate (PTO) Requirement which ensures all inspectors are aligned on the latest system mandate also the technical standard a deep-diving into the specific engineering benchmarks for mechanical and electrical systems.
This hybrid initiative underscores DOLE Batangas’ proactive approach to Occupational Safety and Health (OSH). By providing a platform for both the regulators and the regulated to align their expectations, the office continues to champion safe, productive, and compliant work environments within the Calabarzon region.
Through enhanced collaboration and technical expertise, DOLE Batangas remains steadfast in its mission to protect the welfare of every worker by ensuring that every machine and electrical system in the province operates under the highest safety standards.#
