DOLE GRANTS LIVELIHOOD PACKAGES TO 100 AFFECTED SUGARCANE WORKERS IN TUY, BATANGAS

DOLE IV-A, through its Batangas Provincial Office, released livelihood packages to 100 sugarcane-related workers, small planters, and cultivators affected by the closure of the Central Azucarera Don Pedro Inc. milling operations during a ceremonial program at Tuy, Batangas, October 23.

Under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Assistance Program, each beneficiary received a package containing raw materials, inputs, tools, and supplies as a start-up kit of their chosen business.

Aside from the starter kits, the beneficiaries also received a GSIS Personal Accident Insurance valid for one year from the receiving date of the assistance.

In his message, Mr. Darius Allan B. Lubis - Senior Labor Employment Officer remarked, "Ginagawa ng national government ang lahat upang matulungan ang sektor ng pagtutubo na lubhang naapektuhan ng pagsasarado ng raw milling process ng CADPI. Gamitin po natin itong magandang pagkakataon upang mapaunlad ang ating sarili, pamilya at magkaroon ng patuloy na kita sa pamagitan ng munting negosyong ito na bigay ni DOLE sa inyo."

The beneficiaries were beaming with smiles as they received their now-owned Nego Kart with Bicycle, Sari-Sari Store, Bigasan, and livestock.

DOLE Batangas Provincial Office and the Local Government Unit of Tuy, Batangas, through their Public Employment Service Office, joined hands in the successful release and implementation of the project.
